Torna a Bologna per un’unica data nazionale una delle bands più influenti degli ultimi 10 anni! I CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH presenteranno al Covo Club di Bologna il loro terzo album “HYSTERICAL”, uscito per V2 e prodotto da John Congleton.

Nel 2005, il loro omonimo esordio scosse l’intera scena musicale indipendente. Si trattò del primo caso di esplosione di una band grazie solo al passaparola di internet: la visibilità datagli dai bloggers di mezzo mondo, trasformò i Clap Your Hands Say Yeah da anonima band di amici a vera e propria next bigh thing della scena musicale statunitense. Ecco quindi che un album completamente autoprodotto è riuscito a vendere più di 200.000 copie, prima di essere ristampato e distribuito da Wichita records. Un successo non casuale e non solamente frutto di azzeccate strategie di marketing: c’è molta sostanza musicale dietro ai CYHSY. La loro proposta musicale, infatti, è caratterizzata da una brillantezza ed un’ originalità che li ha resi certamente uno dei gruppi più influenti degli ultimi anni. Un mix perfetto di genio, sregolatezza, indierock alla Pavement, popwave alla Talking Heads ed artrock alla Velvet Underground.

L’album successivo, “Some Loud Thunder”, uscito nel 2007, è un disco in parte spiazzante, perchè decisamente più sperimentale e senza compromessi rispetto al precedente. Ma è sicuramente un lavoro che conferma il genio della band che decide di virare verso un folk-pop gustosamente rétro, visionario, stralunato e ricercato nelle trame.

In tour costante per promuovere i primi due albums, i CYHSY nel 2009 hanno deciso di prendersi un periodo di pausa prima di iniziare a lavorare su del nuovo materiale. Il breve intervallo è stato un toccasana, un periodo necessario per ridare linfa ed una rinata convinzione alla band. “Penso che con questo album sto finalmente iniziando a capire quale sia l’identità della band” ha detto a tal proposito il frontman Alec Ounsworth. “Siamo tutti nella stessa barca adesso”.

Nell’ Aprile 2010 la band ha così ricominciato a suonare, si sono ritrovati nello studio a casa di Ounsworth a Philadelphia, così come nella propria sala prove di Brooklyn. Inizia così un lungo ed intenso processo di collaborazione in cui le canzoni sono state composte, scomposte e ricostruite. Quando è arrivato il momento di registrare, la band ha scelto di collaborare con il produttore John Congleton, già al lavoro con bands come Explosions In The Sky, Okkervil River, Clinic e The Mountain Goats.

Il risultato di questo lungo processo creativo è “HYSTERICAL”, un album segna un grandissimo passo in avanti nell’evoluzione dei Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, che hanno ritrovato la fiducia e la creatività necessaria per espandere il proprio suono, senza però snaturarlo. Un album che è stato accolto con entusiasmo da pubblico e critica.

Sono passati quattro anni e mezzo dal loro ultimo disco, ma nessuno si è scordato di loro… I CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH sono pronti a tornare dei colossi dell’indie rock mondiale.
